It’s a Bling Thing…

This afternoon I found myself anxious to start bringing out the Halloween décor.

However, my daughter is throwing a Bridal shower for one of her friends at my home on Saturday.

Her and her friends will be decorating with a Fall theme.

So to satisfy myself I tinkered a bit.

Went outside and grabbed a couple of pumpkins off of the porch.  Brought them inside and started to bring on the bling!

Fall is a great time to get a bargain price on pots.  These two were 75% off at a local nursery.  The diamond studded pot came just like that.  The other was plain black.  I blinged it up by using Terrifically Tacky Tape and orange glitter.  This tape is fabulous whenever you want a straight line of glitter.  It comes in various widths.  Just apply to surface, peel off protective film.  Sprinkle on glitter and voila!

Two of my friends and I made these cute straw pennants today.  I tied one to the tall pumpkin along with a key and a sweet tag I received with a give away gift that I won a couple weeks ago.  Just received it in the mail yesterday.

The blingy dots and spirals came from a discount store. $3.99 for 2 sheets. I only used about half.

The give away that I won was on Linda at Coastal Charm’s blog. http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/  Roselle from  http://roselle-seasiderosecreations.blogspot.com/ donated the two items.  These darling mini frames.  One a chalkboard and the other burlap with a key. Be sure and go check  out their blogs, they are delightful..  Thanks so much Linda and Roselle.

Look at these yummy apples that Rianna, my daughters friend dropped off at the house tonight.

They’re for the shower on Saturday.  Hmmm, wonder if she knows that caramel apples are one of MY MOST FAVORITE treats in the world?  She’s really taking a chance there wouldn’t you say?

IMG_3537

Now if that doesn’t get you in the mood for Halloween, I don’t know what will.

See you later,

Jann (Hopefully, I won’t have caramel on my face)

Is There a Doctor in the House?

If so, I may need my head X-amined!

Take an X-ray please!

Me:  Dr., Dr., You’ve got to help me!

Dr.:  Jann, What seems to be the problem?

Me:  I keep seeing spots before my eyes!

Dr.:  Just now and then, or all the time?

Me:  It comes and goes, but when they come they’re everywhere!

Dr:  Is there something in your environment, you know, your surroundings that could be causing this?

Me:  Nothing that I can think of.

I hope I made you laugh, or at least smile a little.

Laughter does wonders for the soul.

I took these pics a while ago, but haven’t had a chance to blog about them yet.

I haven’t shared with Sue at Rednesday for quite some time.  Thought I would share my polka-dot addiction today.

The inspiration for this post came from the purchase of my new polka-dot pillow.  $12.99 at Target.  I had to sneak it onto my bed.  Hubby says 11 pillows is MORE than plenty. That’s how many I usually have.  Couldn’t help but buy it.   I LOVE polka-dots!

Sweet Wheat!

I was not planning on doing a post today. But sometimes plans change.  Yes, I am very flexible with my schedule. I just got home from running errands and I couldn’t wait to share what I found.

SWEET WHEAT dishes.

IMG_3503

While out I decided to swing by the D.I.

These dishes (all but the S&P shakers which I bought for $1 at a yard sale) were in the collectibles case.

Now, things in the collectibles are always priced a bit higher.

The set of four:  Plate, bowl, teacup and saucer were $5. I didn’t think that was too bad.

I knew that they were not the same wheat pattern as my other collection.

But I sure thought they were cute.

This is what it says on the bottom.

IMG_3511

Anyone familiar with this?  Autumn gold, how appropriate.  You’d a thought I had struck GOLD when I saw them.

In case you missed the post I did on my other wheat dishes, here’s a glimpse.

What do you think?  Would you have bought the D.I. set?

Just gotta say, “There’s GOLD in them thar thrift stores!”

Blue Looks Good on You!

2011-09-25 Front Porch Fall

Hey Mr. Porch, I just bought an old  cupboard.

Didn’t know what to do,

but gotta say, “Blue Looks Good on You”!

A bit of blue with festive Fall,

Purple, orange, yellow and gold.

Makes a blue cupboard look good,

no matter how old!

You can hang out with my black

drop leaf table.

Black and blue are always in,

that is, except on the skin!

IMG_3459

Mums the word we like to hear.

So hears hoping you enjoy my new old cupboard, dear!

I love these bumpy pumpkins!  Warty enough to make any witch a bit envious.

When it comes to coffee, I’ll take mine with filters only please. I like a little white and tan.

I want my door a color SO BAD!  Haven’t convinced Hubby yet.  “Too nice of  wood”.

A true blue friend, Amanda surprised me by sitting this darling pitcher on my countertop one morning.  What a delight to my eyes!  She found it at D.I. for $1.50.

Mother Nature is still allowing late bloomers to thrive.

In fact, look at this Sweet Potato Vine.  He’s all but coming in the front door.

Added a few more things after I took this pic.

IMG_3477

Why I fell in love with this cupboard the first time I spied it at Star Mill Antiques.  Because of all of the many cubbies for displaying treasures.

I imagined it full of popcorn and candy jars in our future theater room.  But for now, the front porch will do.

The teapot I bought at the $1 store years ago.  I have a plate to match.  I just bought the two mini oil lamps at a yard sale for $3.

My stab at poetry is really quite comical, but hopefully it’s always good for a laugh or two.

Now that I have shown you my Fall décor inside and out.  It took about four posts, but I did it.  I hope It helped  put you in the mood for Fall.
